Census Bureau: More women than men in Oakland in 2017


Of the 930 people living in Oakland in 2017, 57 percent (530) were women and 43 percent (400) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Palmetto Business Daily.

Males 18 and over outnumbered females in the same age group by a ratio of 276-to-260. In the 65 years and over age range, there were 130 females and 63 males.

Data for this story was compiled from the bureau's American Community Survey. Information from the survey helps to determine how federal and state funds are distributed.
