Cost of college went up for all students at Claflin University


Tuition and fees rose 2.3 percent for 2018-19 at Claflin University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

South Carolina students paid $16,854 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $374 more than the $16,480 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 100 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 515 students received grants or scholarships totaling $6.9 million and 452 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (2,172), 1,907 students used grants or scholarships totaling $25 million, and 1,682 students took out $13.2 million in federal student loans.
