Duke Energy grants $1M support to NC communities to help weather the storm

Duke Energy has announced it is granting over $1.1 million funding to support sixty-five North Carolina communities to help them bounce back better in future emergencies and weather events by ensuring they are equipped with advance preparation and planning.

The power company has received more than 140 applications for this project. According to Duke Energy’s North Carolina president Stephen De May, the overwhelming response emphasized the profound need of the communities as many are still recovering from the devastation of last year’s storms.

"We want to help our communities become more resilient to the impacts of a major storm. And with the season's first major hurricane forming in the Atlantic, we have a vivid reminder of the importance of advance planning," said De May.
