Graduates earn 275 degrees, certificates from Converse College


About 37.1 percent of the 275 degrees and certificates handed out by Converse College in 2017-18 were to students in education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Spartanburg conferred 57 master's degrees and 26 bachelor's degrees in education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in general psychology. Data shows the school gave out 19 bachelor's degrees in general psychology, followed by 15 bachelor's degrees in general biology/biological sciences and 14 master's degrees in marriage and family therapy/counseling.

The college enrolled 1,478 students for 2017-18, including 918 in undergraduate programs and 560 in graduate programs.
