The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) has been recognized by the U.S. News, including being named the No. 1 hospital in the state of South Carolina, ranked nationally in five adult and five children’s specialties, and rated high performing in six adult specialties and eight procedures and conditions.
To qualify for the best regional hospital, a hospital must offer a full range of services and either have three or more ratings of high performing in a specialty or in the nine best hospitals procedures and conditions or nationally ranked in one of the 12 data-driven best hospitals specialties.
Matt Wain, chief operating officer of MUSC, said that at MUSC the patient comes first and that it is treating the “right patient at the right time and in the right place.”
MUSC has recently acquired four hospitals in the Pee Dee and has introduced the use of telemedicine as part of its efforts to reach and treat patients. Last year, it had over 348,000 telemedicine patient interactions in 527 unique delivery sites.
