South Carolina Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Ted Pitts has released the following statement on the South Carolina House of Representatives’ passage of H.3759, the comprehensive education reform bill:

“The business community appreciates the efforts of the South Carolina House of Representatives to pass a comprehensive education reform bill which addresses critical issues like teacher recruitment and retention, early childhood education, accountability for underperforming schools and districts, and school district consolidation. This bill’s focus is on helping our students become career- and college-ready and is essential to South Carolina’s future. We ask the Senate to continue the work to reform our education system to benefit our students, teachers, families, and employers.”
