Blue Crab Festival recognized in three excellence awards
The World Famous Blue Crab Festival was recognized in three categories by the South Carolina Festival and Events Association's (SCFEA) 2019 Festival & Event Planner's Conference. The festival has been distinguished with the Best T-Shirt Design, Best Merchandise and Green Award.
This Excellence Awards program was designed by SCFEA to provide an opportunity to celebrate the best across South Carolina.
The Little River Chamber of Commerce’s president, Jennifer Walters, credits the Green Award to the event’s partnerships with Santee Cooper and the Horry County Solid Waste Authority. “We partner with Santee Cooper to power our festivals with green power, which is generated from renewable resources like wind, solar and landfill gas. The Horry County Solid Waste Authority has implemented the resources to allow for short term events to recycle. Recycling eases the stress to the landfill and our expense budget,” said Walters.
Izzy West, communications manager at the chamber, is proud to acknowledge Identity Promotion, who regularly designs and prints the T-shirts of The World Famous Blue Crab Festival.
The Best Merchandise was awarded to Blue Crab for its initiative in giving away free slap-brand bracelets to children upon their entrance to the festival. The bracelet was used as the children’s tag containing their parents’ mobile numbers so they could be easily contacted by the security in case the child is lost. This was well collaborated with Horry County Police and Sheriffs' Departments.
The 38th Annual World Famous Blue Crab Festival happens on May 18 and 19.
