The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce has recognized companies that have made significant contributions to Berkeley County during its Salute to Business & Industry Luncheon at the North Charleston Convention Center.
With this year’s program based on volunteerism, innovation and technology, and community engagement, awards were given to Berkeley Electric Cooperative, which won the Business Transcend Award; Nucor Steel Berkeley, which was given the Industry Transcend Award; Home Telecom, recipient of the Business Innovation & Productivity Excellence Award; JW Aluminum, winner of the Industry Innovation & Productivity Excellence Award; and Thomas & Hutton, which was granted with the Business Service Award.
“These companies represent respected qualities: drive, vision, perseverance, the desire to make a difference and in many cases the willingness to take a risk and make sacrifices,” Berkeley Chamber CEO Elaine Morgan said. “Each of the honorees, whether through the growth of their businesses, their time-honored service to the community, or their volunteerism have contributed significantly to the vitality and growth of Greater Berkeley County,”
State Sen. Paul Campbell, the director of airports for the Charleston County Aviation Authority, was the guest speaker at the event.
