The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce has named David Merhib as its new president and CEO.
Merhib was previously president and CEO of the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce in South Dakota for almost five years.
“We are excited to welcome David as our president and CEO for the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce," Greer Chamber of Commerce Chairman Mikelle Porter said. "His leadership, experience and accomplishments as the president and CEO of the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce are evidence of his passion for Chamber work, business growth, and community support."
Merhib implemented two organizational, multi-year strategic plans when he was with Brookings. He created a tiered dues benefit structure for members, and has put up public policy statements for the business community. Also during his stint, Merhib led an initiative to organize the Downtown Business District Committee through a partnership with the Brookings government.
"My goal is to keep the Chamber relevant through new and existing programs and initiatives that impact the business community as well as develop and create opportunities for business growth throughout the Greater Greer area," Merhib said.
Merhib holds a master’s degree in educational administration from South Dakota State University and a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Oregon. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute of Organizational Management.
