The City of Greenville and Urban Design Associates conducted a Public Open House and Summer Garden Party on June 20 at Tate Plaza at Falls Park.

The event paved the way for the public to meet Urban Design’s representatives and learn about their ideas and opinions about downtown Greenville’s future. Greenville plans to develop a strategic master plan for downtown to attract visitors and retain local businesses and residents. In addition, the plan will ensure downtown Greenville’s uniqueness and authenticity while encouraging continued economic growth.

The project was given a six-month lead time to implement, during which time the team will work with property owners, local residents and businesses, developers, philanthropies and local officials to achieve the project’s objectives.

The team also includes Hawkin Partners, a landscape architecture and public space design firm; HR&A Advisors, which specializes in the market analysis; Thomas & Hutton, a civil engineering firm; and Walker Parking, a parking strategy firm.
