Cost of college went up for all students at University of South Carolina-Lancaster

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.7 percent for 2017-18 at University of South Carolina-Lancaster, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.


In-state tuition and fees rose 3.7 percent for 2017-18 at University of South Carolina-Lancaster, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

South Carolina residents paid $6,948 to attend the two-year public institution this year $246 more than the $6,702 charged for 2016-17.

Non-residents paid 149.4 percent more than residents this year, or $17,328. Their price tag grew 3.5 percent from $16,734 in 2016-17.

About 95 percent of the school's undergraduate population are South Carolina residents. About 3 percent are residents of other states and 2 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 317 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.13 million and 123 students took out student loans totaling more than $525,995.

Including all undergraduates, 1,194 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.04 million. Another 432 took out $2.33 million in federal student loans.
