Graduates earn 8,536 degrees, certificates from University of South Carolina-Columbia


About 25.2 percent of the 8,536 degrees and certificates handed out by the University of South Carolina-Columbia in 2016-17 were to students in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Columbia conferred 1624 bachelor's degrees and 388 master's degrees in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Finance, General. Data shows the school gave out 298 bachelor's degrees in Finance, General, followed by 287 bachelor's degrees in Exercise Physiology and 283 bachelor's degrees in Biology/Biological Sciences, General.

The university enrolled 34,099 students for 2016-17, including 25,556 in undergraduate programs and 8,543 in graduate programs.
