Graduates earn 159 degrees, certificates from Fortis College-Columbia


About 83 percent of the 159 degrees and certificates handed out by the Fortis College-Columbia in 2016-17 were to students in Health Professions and Related Programs programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private for-profit institution in Columbia conferred 106 certificates and 26 associate's degrees in Health Professions and Related Programs programs.

But the single most popular program was for a certificate in Medical/Clinical Assistant. Data shows the school gave out 55 certificates in Medical/Clinical Assistant, followed by 42 certificates in Dental Assisting/Assistant and 27 certificates in Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration Maintenance Technology/Technician.

The college enrolled 324 students for 2016-17, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
