Charleston County schools promotes Cobb to executive director role

Starting July 1, John Cobb will serve as Charleston County School District’s executive director of administrator mentoring and coaching. 

He will mentor and coach at Burns Elementary and other assigned schools within the district. He currently serves as the executive director of elementary learning at the same school. 

Cobb previously served as assistant principal at Colleton County’s Forest Circle Middle School and Springfield Elementary School. He was also principal at Northside Elementary School and Drayton Hall Elementary School. After his 12-year stint at Drayton Hall, he became interim director of the elementary learning community for the 2015-16 school year before being permanently hired in his current role in 2016.

Cobb is a graduate of Herbert Lehman University in New York and holds a master’s degree in elementary education administration and an Ed.S. in education leadership from The Citadel.
