Civil and structural engineers and bridge inspectors are needed to volunteer for the fourth annual Bridge Walk for local high school students taking engineering courses.

The next event on Ravenel Bridge will be March 23 from 10 a.m. to noon for 88 Summerville Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) students. The final event will be for 70 Cane Bay and Hanahan STEM students and will take place on March 30 from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

The students will walk under the bridge in groups of eight to 10 while discussing the building of a bridge, including its history, technical elements (pouring concrete, drainage, safety measures, etc.), and the various collaborations that made such a project possible.

Each of the events needs eight volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering for the Bridge Walk, please contact Robin Willis at 843-805-3031.
