The South Carolina Emergency Management Division hosted AFTER MATTHEW: A Disaster Recovery Workshop for Coastal Businesses on Jan. 26 in Myrtle Beach.
This seminar helped businesses prepare for and recover from large-scale emergencies and disasters and featured discussions on contingency planning and public-private partnerships, which help ensure community preparedness. Businesses were able to build and test their own continuity plans against a customized hurricane scenario during a table top exercise.
“We have seen during major incidents that the faster local businesses recover, the faster the entire community recovers," SCEMD Director Kim Stentson said. "This is an opportunity to strengthen our emergency management partnerships by helping businesses build better disaster plans."
