The communications and marketing coordinator of the Little River Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center recently received the Little River Community Leadership award.
Izzy West joined the Little River Chamber in 2014 as a part-time office assistant and worked her way up to her position.
"This award goes to qualified individuals who do great things in our community. It's our way of thanking area leaders for making Little River a better place to live and do business," said chamber member David Warner.
A graduate of North Myrtle Beach High School and the University of South Carolina, West is now in control of “maintaining four websites and 15 social media accounts, promoting and photographing chamber events, designing ads assisting chamber members utilize their membership benefits, and coordinating volunteers for the Little River ShrimpFest & World Famous Blue Crab Festival,” the Little River Chamber said.
West also maintains a Facebook job-sharing page and volunteers in the community.
"To my knowledge, chamber staffs rarely receive this kind of recognition as we're usually the ones awarding other leaders," West said. "I was very flattered that someone feels that I'm making a difference in the community."
