COMET Soda Cap Connector, Blythewood Express to launch Friday
The COMET's new Soda Cap Connector and Blythewood Express are launching in Columbia Friday with a kickoff press conference and ride-along.
The press conference will be at 10 a.m. at the Coble Plaza, with a ride-along on the Soda Cap Connector following at 11 a.m. Area officials, community leaders and the public are invited to attend.
The COMET Soda Cap Connector is connection of routes to top local destinations such as the Main Street District, Five Points and the South Carolina State Museum. The connector will run Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and rides will be free for the next six months.
The Blythewood Express offers park-and-ride service connecting Blythewood residents to the downtown corridor.
“It is important to have mobility options that fit the needs of all citizens of Richland County," The COMET’s interim Executive Director Ann August said. "We are proud to launch a Park-and-Ride Express service for the town of Blythewood and the Soda Cap Connector downtown circulator that connects people to major parts of the city."
Surveys will be taken during the initial riding periods to help create improvements.
