Chino Valley’s upcoming 2017 Territorial Days weekend event will celebrate the town’s 100 Years of Education & History with events in various locations.
The event will take place Sept. 1-2.
At 5 p.m. Sept. 1, attendees can take part in a burger barbecue for $2 per meal and Kick Off pep rally at Chino Valley High School, 760 E Center St. — with face painting and sign making — prior to the varsity football team’s first home game of the season at 7 p.m.
Festivities on Sept. 2 will begin with a pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. at the Senior Center, 1021 W Butterfield Road.
A parade will commence at 9:15 a.m. down N Road 1 W, and from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., a variety of activities with vendors, food trucks, live music and rides will take place at Memory Park, Palomino Road and N Road 1 West. Additionally, a corn dinner will be available at 3 p.m. at Del Rio Elementary School.
Although officially a town only since 1970, Chino Valley was Arizona’s first territorial capital in 1864, according to the town.
