The Aiken Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Aiken Chapter of SCORE have teamed up for a pair of August workshops for current and potential small-business owners.
Both workshops will take place at the Aiken Chamber of Commerce, 121 Richland Ave. E., from 10 a.m. to noon. Although the workshops are free to addend, registration is required because seating is limited.
The Aug. 18 workshop discusses how to build a business plan. This workshop teaches the basic parts of a business plan and how to create one to help plot a business' success. Part of the workshop includes working in groups to develop a brief business plan. The workshop also covers important business topics such as cash flow, marketing and pricing.
The Aug. 25 workshop covers payroll taxes and tips for small businesses. This session covers the difference between employees and contractors, as well as the reporting and filing requirements for each. It also covers how to keep accurate wage reports, Social Security, Medicare and withholding taxes, as well as unemployment and self-employment taxes. It also discusses several federal tax forms.
Greater Aiken SCORE is a nonprofit association that helps educate entrepreneurs.
