John Moore, the CEO of Greenville community support group NEXT, spoke to the Greenville Chamber of Commerce about attending the highly anticipated Intercommunity Leadership Visit.
"Business and community development happens via relationships and trips like these offer the best opportunity to get to know other key players in the region," Moore told the Greenville Chamber.
NEXT is a Greenville organization that focuses on the growth of entrepreneurs and community leaders. It provides the support that these individuals need to help build strong globally competitive businesses.
The Intercommunity Leadership Visit is set to take place in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina from Sept. 27-29. It will include over 100 Upstate leaders exploring how Raleigh-Durham has become one of the most economically booming metros in the country.
Moore stated that one of the aspects of the gathering he looks forward to is seeing and learning "new models for creating density in entrepreneurial development."
He added that when it comes to what excites him the most about Raleigh-Durham's progress, he is most impressed with "how the city of Durham in particular has built one of the country’s most thriving entrepreneur ecosystems in about a decade."
"Though somewhat complementary in nature, the startup scene in Durham is very different than the traditional research campus model employed in Raleigh decades earlier," Moore said.
