Spartanburg City Council recently passed new rules that will make it easier for owners of towed impounded cars to retrieve their personal belongings and recover their vehicles.
The new rules require towing companies to store towed vehicles within 2 miles of Spartanburg. Staff at the storage location must allow car owners to recover personal property from the vehicles and allow a car owner or authorized driver to recover the vehicle.
City Council also clarified procedures for revoking towing permits if the towing firm violates the new rules. The new rules regarding storage location go into effect in one month; the other requirements are immediately in effect.
