Krista Bourne, south central market president for Verizon Wireless, gave a presentation offering tips on how to have a better work experience no matter what the job during the recent Greenville Women at Work breakfast.

Bourne discussed factors that can help women thrive in their workplaces.

“Don’t just look for a logo, research the company’s mission and values to find your fit,” Bourne said when searching for potential employers. Even though we may not be able to choose our employers or coworkers, we can choose companies that share our values, she said.

Bourne also said that clarity is a big help, as far as picking a passion and then finding a job that fits the passion. She also said to always be a student of the business, learning more about it. Networking is also important. She recommends picking influencers and experts in your job field to be part of the network.

Participating in team meetings is also important, she said, as it may be the one chance an employee has to point out things that they deem important.
