The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce is one of three metro chambers in the country named as a Chamber of the Year Finalist by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.
The other two metro chamber finalists are based in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Dayton, Ohio.
"To reach this stage of the competition is a huge accomplishment and a major validation of the dedication of our volunteer leaders, members and staff," said a statement on the chamber website.
Chamber of the Year is the only award of its kind in the United States. To be nominated, a chamber must demonstrate organizational strength and make take action on community priorities such as education, transportation and quality of life.
“Receiving this acknowledgment just months after achieving 5-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber for the third straight time is a true testament to the work of our talented staff, volunteer leadership and committed membership,” Bryan Derreberry, Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, said. “We are truly honored to be recognized alongside Chattanooga and Dayton as a finalist for this prestigious award. Thank you to each one of our members for your continued investment into the Chamber and the Charleston region.”
Only 104 chambers qualified for the competition out of more than 7,000 registered chambers nationwide. Winners will be announced at ACCE’s National Convention in Nashville next month.
