Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate has been named the June Small Business of the Month by the Greenville Chamber.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious award," CEO Lamont Sullivan said. "At Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Upstate, we pride ourselves on being the premier one-to-one mentoring program. Our investment in the Greenville Chamber allows us to collaborate in a network of businesses, who employ leaders and volunteer with us in helping kids succeed and thrive in life.
Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated locally for 43 years, helping every child thrive in life. Many of the kids served by the organization come from low-income single-parent homes, or from home situations that are less than ideal. The organization matches volunteer adults as mentors to the kids.
Ongoing evaluation helps improve the odds that kids in the program will do better in school and make better life choices.
"This honor helps our brand stand alone in area mentoring in Greenville County," Sullivan said. "Additionally, it sends a message to business that an investment in our organization will produce a lucrative return. We look forward to greater collaboration because of this award."
