The city of Surprise is encouraging donations water bottles and warning residents to stay safely hydrated and avoid heat-related incidents by utilizing local refuge stations as needed.
Surprise participates in the Heat Relief Network, a group composed of service providers, local governments, private businesses, spiritual organizations and volunteers who mobilize during heat waves to ensure safety for residents between May and September, according to a press release.
Residents can contribute not only water bottles but also sunscreen, sunglasses and hats and can drop off their donations at any of the following hydration stations in Surprise: the Surprise Resource Center at 12425 W. Bell Road, Building A, Suite 124 and Surprise Fire-Medical Station #301 (FS 301) at 16750 N. Village Drive E., which also serves as a place to cool off during the day.
Additionally, water bottles can be dropped off at all of Surprise’s fire-medical stations. Crews at each location plan to distribute bottles of water from fire trucks over the entire summer.
