Charleston County Council has hired its first female county administrator.

Jennifer Miller, who most recently served as deputy county administrator of Human Services, has worked with the county since 1986.

“On behalf of County Council, I’m pleased to welcome Ms. Miller as the new administrator of Charleston County,” County Council Chairman Vic Rawl said. “It was important to maintain continuity and Ms. Miller has the experience and knowledge necessary to continue Charleston County on its successful path.”

Miller replaces Keith Bustraan, who served in the role for two years and is retiring.

“I want express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to serve our citizens alongside so many smart, hard-working and dedicated co-workers,” Bustraan said.

During his term, the Budget Office and Finance Department won awards from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
