Family-owned logistics and warehouse business Mid-States Packaging Inc. is launching a new, $5.2 million Charleston County facility where it expects to create 30 jobs, the South Carolina Department of Commerce announced recently.
The company, founded by members of a family working in the transportation industry for four generations, plans to locate operations at a two-building site at 4500 Goer Drive, North Charleston, a property with multiple tenants.
“Mid-States Packaging is so excited to be opening up in North Charleston, South Carolina,” co-owner Tracy Giroux-Harpin, who founded the company with Charles Giroux in 2001, said. “We know this fantastic location is a perfect fit for our growing company.”
In addition to transportation, logistics, packaging and warehousing, Mid-States Packaging offers rail service, containers, sea bulk and other services to meet all supply chain needs for its clients. Mid-States Packaging will conduct all of its manufacturing, storage and distribution from the new locale and hiring is expected to begin in the third quarter of this year. Job development credits have been arranged by the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development, which functions under the auspices of the state Department of Commerce.
“I wish the company all the best and look forward to watching them thrive in South Carolina,” Gov. Henry McMaster said in welcoming the firm.
