Charleston’s award-winning florist Tiger Lily celebrated inspirational women on International Women’s Day on March 8 by giving away 200 bouquets of daffodils at its downtown Charleston location.

Customers were given two five-stem daffodil bouquets – one they kept and the other to “petal it forward” and give a woman who has made a difference in their life.

A requested $5 donation for the flowers was donated to Thrive SC, which provides short-term and longer-stay transitional housing, services and holistic resources for women and children survivors of domestic violence.

This is the second year for Tiger Lily’s petal it forward promotion on International Women’s Day. Customers are also encouraged to share photos of the flowers and the inspirational woman in their life on social media using #womensdaychs and #TigerLily.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. It has been observed since the early 1900s.
