Charleston County School District is now accepting applications for Head Start and Early Head Start programs for the 2017-18 school year.
Children who enroll and have been accepted in these programs attend at no cost to the family.
Head Start and Early Head Start serve children from birth to age 3 and pregnant women through center-based and home-based services. To be eligible, families must meet certain low-income guidelines.
Both programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
To apply for Head Start or Early Head Start, families are asked to provide proof of their gross income for the past 12 months, proof of the child’s age, proof of residency and current South Carolina Immunization Certificate.
Other requirements are a Medicaid care or private insurance, a current physical exam (must include the blood level and hemoglobin), a current dental exam, and proof of pregnancy for pregnant woman applying for Early Head Start.
