The Charleston County School District has appointed Michael Antonelli principal of Carolina Park Elementary School, a new school that will open in August with kindergarten through fifth grade.
“We are excited to have Mr. Antonelli as principal of our new school. His dedication and commitment to serving our young students is evident in his success at Laurel Hill, and we excited about the leadership that he will provide to Carolina Park Elementary School,” Terri Nichols, assistant superintendent for Charleston County School District, said.
Antonelli has previously served as the principal of Laurel Hill Primary School in Mt. Pleasant, where he established a school of instructional best practices and model classrooms, maintained high academic achievement across all student subgroups, and received numerous local and state-level awards for the school.
Laurel Hill has also achieved the highest Primary School absolute rating in South Carolina since 2012.
Before his time at Laurel Hill, Antonelli also served as assistant principal, assistant administrator and art educator at Pinckney Elementary School.
