The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce has endorsed H.3516, the infrastructure legislation filed by House Majority Leader Gary Simrill (R-Rock Hill) and others in the South Carolina House of Representatives.
Simrill said steps taken by the General Assembly in recent years to provide one time funding were important, but the state can't wait any longer to pass a long-term, sustainable solution. He added that roads and bridges rank among the worst in the country, and it affects every South Carolinian, business and job creator in the state.
“This is the type of comprehensive infrastructure plan that South Carolina’s residents, workers and businesses need our policy makers to implement," South Carolina Chamber CEO Ted Pitts said. "This funding proposal diversifies the sources of revenue, provides a long-term sustainable solution, and adequately captures out of state trucks and motorists who use our roads. It does all this in a responsible, phased-in approach."
