The Palmetto Health Board of Directors has elected Beverly Chrisman as its 2017 chairperson -- the first female to take on this role.
The board also elected two new members and re-elected two members.
Chrisman is a founding member of the board and has served as its secretary. She worked for the South Carolina Department of Education and the South Carolina legislature. She has also been a political consultant.
Chrisman is also on the board of directors for Providence Home and the South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association. She has also chaired the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission and National Recreation and Park Association.
The new members elected to the Palmetto Health Board of Directors are William Cogdill Jr., the president of Cogdill Carpets, and Charles Waddell, the deputy athletic director for the University of South Carolina. Dr. James Herlong, a retired urologist, and Paul Fant, president of Fant Consulting LLC, have been re-elected to the board.
