Past members of the South Carolina Bar were memorialized at the annual Memory Hold the Door ceremony Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Greenville.

Established in 1958, this annual memorial provides an opportunity for the SC Bar and USC School of Law faculty to recognize and honor distinguished deceased members of the Bar and continue funding an endowment at the USCSchool of Law for scholarships, lectures, research and academic programs.

The SC Bar Foundation has contributed to the USC Educational Foundation in honor of those memorialized.

Officials said the honorees represent a true honor roll of the legal profession, selected by their peers as best exemplifying the qualities of integrity, professionalism and skill required of the bench and bar.

The ceremony was held in conjunction with the annual SC Bar Convention, which runs through Sunday at the Hyatt Regency Greenville.

The ceremony provided an account of the lives and contributions of the following honorees: Hon. Sol Blatt Jr., Robert N. DuRant, Robert W. Foster Sr., Hon. David W. Harwell, Harold W. Jacobs, Hon. J. Ernest Kinard Jr., Hon. Marion H. Kinon, David A. Merline Sr., Edward P. Perrin, and H. Dave Whitener Jr.
