The Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce recently presented its second Rules of Business Webinar focusing on Fair Labor Standards Act changes.
The webinar came in response to a federal appellate judge in Texas issuing a temporary injunction after employers finalized their strategies for complying with the new FLSA overtime regulations, which included changing compensation plans, modifying how employees track their time, and dealing with the subsequent fallout.
Chuck McDonald, shareholder at Ogletree Deakins, provided his insight as to possible outcomes following the recent temporary injunction and the impending changes with the Trump Administration. Overall, attendees believe they are, in short, in a “wait and see” period, with some clarity possibly emerging in mid- to late-January.
And because of the uncertainty, officials at the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce said there will be another Rules of Business Webinar will coming during the first quarter of 2017. The latest was presented on Dec. 14.
"Hopefully, we will have better direction as to what employers should be considering as they re-adjust their strategies to meet the changing business climate under the new administration," according to Chamber officials in a news statement.
