Boeing has reached another milestone in the company’s history as the aircraft manufacturer delivered the 500th 787 Dreamliner to Avianca with the transfer of a 787-8.

“Achieving 500 deliveries – the fastest to 500 for twin aisles – is a great accomplishment, made possible by the hard work and dedication of our employees and global suppliers,” Boeing's Mark Jenks, vice president and general manager for the 787 program, said.

There are 48 operators using the 787 Dreamliner fleet. Since the inception of the line in 2011, the fleet has traveled 696,000 revenue flights -- more than 1.7 billion revenue miles -- and transported 133 million flyers.

The 787 operates on more than 530 routes, with more than 120 nonstop flights.
