Johanna Konta, the No. 10 ranked player in the world; 2016 Volvo Car Open champion Sloane Stephens; and Olympic gold medalist Elena Vesnina will participate in the 2017 Volvo Car Open.
The three newly added players will join former No. 1 players in the world Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki, the currently ranked No. 8 player in the world Madison Keys, and Olympic gold medalist Moica Puig.
“Our player commitments continue to grow, and we are thrilled to bring Johanna, Sloane and Elena to Charleston,” tournament manager Eleanor Adams said. “The fans are in for a real treat in 2017. Another top 10 player, past champion and gold medalist are coming to town. Each have had impressive 2016 seasons, and will up the competition in our field next year.”
This will be the first year that Konta has taken part in the event. Stephens joins Williams and Wozniacki to make three former champions play in in this year's event.
