The Palmetto Health Children's Hospital will partner with Fireflies to host the Fireflies Reading Program, that was formed to promote reading and literacy and will also provide students with incentives to inspire them to read.

The program coincides with Palmetto Health Children's Hospital's dedication to literacy and other initiatives including Reach Out and Read. Teachers sign up students who are awarded prizes when they reach various milestones in the program.

To complete the program, students must "read around the bases," which results in hitting a home run in the program. When they complete their goal, they will receive tickets to a Fireflies game in 2017 along with free meal at the game, a free pass to EdVenture and a special prize.
