CBRE Group Inc. handled the Sept. 15 sale of the Boy Scouts of America headquarters of the Coastal Carolina Council, located at 1025 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. in Charleston.
CBRE sold the property to Charleston Tumbleston, who was represented by Michael Carmody, for $1.1 million.
“The first time we toured the property we knew it was meant to be,” Amy Tumbleston Brown, CEO of Tumbleston Photography Studio, said. “The location has great accessibility, we could repurpose the existing building and have an idyllic outdoor canvas to offer our clients.”
The property features a 10,000-square-foot office on 3.5 acres. This building has been the regional corporate headquarters as well as the National BSA Scout Shop starting in 1982.
From the site, people can see a view of the salt marsh and the Ashley River, featuring moss-draped oak trees that are centuries old.
“As a lifelong Scout with a close relationship with the council, I knew the property well,” Carmody said. “We knew there would be multiple players during the bidding process including residential developers so it was critical we make our offer attractive and clear that we were going to utilize the existing building, which had sentimental attachment.”
