Greenville-based Michelin Tweel Technologies released a new size of airless skid steer tire last week.
"Responding to customer requests, we developed our newest version of the MICHELIN X TWEEL SSL to give owners and operators of smaller skid steer loader machines the opportunity to experience all of the advantages of the TWEEL Airless Radial Tire, including reduced downtime due to flats, increased operator comfort and improved productivity," Head of Michelin Tweel Technologies Olivier Brauen said. "We are pleased to broaden our offer to provide this innovative mobility solution to more customers."
The tire-wheel assembly was introduced four years ago. The tires are used on skid steer loaders and zero-turn radius mowers. The airless TWEEL tires prevent the flat tires that occurred regularly when regular tires were used with the equipment.
The new size allows owners of machines that require a 10-inch size to take advantage of the new technology. Most modern skid steer machines use 10- and 12-inch sizes. The new tire has a 31/32-inch tread depth. The 10/32-inch undertread allows the tires to be retreaded.
The new product and its advantages were presented by Director of Sales Jack Olney at the Green Industry & Equipment Expo held in Louisville last week.
