Stephen Mitchell, the managing part of the Fisher Phillips law firm in Columbia, recently joined the board of directors of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber is the biggest broad-based business and industry trade association in South Carolina. It represents over 1 million employees. Its goal is to develop solutions for concerns that challenge businesses; this will guarantee that South Carolina becomes a leading location for its economic development.
In his practice, Mitchell highlights traditional labor law and employment litigation. He advises his clients about avoiding and responding to unfair labor practices, collective bargaining, union organizing efforts, acquisition of unionized facilities, labor arbitration, corporate campaigns and work stoppages.
Mitchell earned his certification from the South Carolina Supreme Court, demonstrating his expertise in employment and labor law. He is also a contributing editor for the Developing Labor Law publication. Since 2009, he has been listed among South Carolina Super Lawyers; since 2010, he has been honored with The Best Lawyers in America; and since 2007 he has been included in the Chambers USA.
“Steve’s talent, legal expertise and business acumen will be beneficial to the chamber,” Ted Pitts, CEO of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, said. “We are fortunate to have him as we continue to strengthen the business community in South Carolina.”
