The newly elected Executive Committee and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 2016-17 have been announced and will become effective today, Oct. 1.
Barbara Melvin will serve as the Chairman. She is the SVP of Operations & Terminals for the South Carolina Ports Authority and oversees terminal operations, information technology and support services, crane and equipment maintenance, engineering, environmental, Port Police and cruise operations.
John Uprichard is Past Chairman as well as president and CEO of FGP International, a recruitment firm. Jack Sanders is the Chair-Elect and was named CEO of Sonoco in April in 2013 after 28 years with the company.
Charles Speth II has been elected General Counsel and practices employment litigation in the Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak and Stewart, P.C. Columbia office. Chris Barras will serve as Treasurer and is an Executive Director of the Greenville, South Carolina office of Ernst & Young.
Leighton Lord practices economic development, corporate, partnership and real estate law at Nexsen Pruet and will serve as Commerce Chair.
