The Citadel President Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa was recently chosen to receive the Chief Executive Leadership Award from leaders of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III, representing nine states in the southeastern U.S.
Rosa will receive his award at the CASE District III Conference in Nashville, Tennessee on Feb. 7.
CASE chose Rosa to receive the award due to his attention to strategic initiatives, which have improved The Citadel’s goal of creating principled leaders. Rosa has also focused The Citadel on upgrading its curriculum, which must be relevant to the technology and challenges of the 21st century. In the midst of making these advancements, he has also upheld the values that are unique to the college.
Since Rosa first began his tenure as president at The Citadel, the school has grown its South Carolina Corps of Cadets. It has also finished a $100 million capital campaign. Both of these are two significant achievements for the institution.
“President Rosa exemplifies the finest qualities of leadership — inspiring with vision and encouraging innovation, leading the institution to higher levels of success, and supporting all aspects of institutional advancement — that CASE III is proud to recognize through its Chief Executive Leadership Award,” Kris Phillips, CASE III Board Chair, said. “He has led The Citadel with distinction for more than 10 years, challenging the entire campus community to address some difficult issues all while championing and building institutional morale and pride.”
