Greenville native Jeremy R. Summerlin recently became the new associate attorney on the legal team at Horton Law Firm.
Summerlin’s main responsibilities will be working with business and employees during their legal disputes. He will also represent workers who are harassed, wrongly terminated, or discriminated against because of their race, age, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy, religion, or medical condition.
In addition, Summerlin will represent employees and executives in their employment and non-compete litigation. This means that he will handle claims of severance contracts, whistleblowing retaliation, wage theft, employment contracts, minimum wage violations, and unpaid overtime. He will uphold the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), which includes sick leave.
Summerlin earned his undergrade degree at Bob Jones University. He went to the University of South Carolina School of Law for his law degree.
In 2014, he became part of the legal community in the Greenville area. He is an active community member. He is part of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce – PULSE Young Professionals, a member at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, and a participant in the South Carolina State Guard JAG Corps.
“Jeremy brings a unique set of skills and values to the firm,” Bo Campbell, a Horton Law Firm partner, said. “We are looking forward to having him as integral part of our team.”
