The Berkeley County School Board recently announced that it has chosen Kelly Gabriel as the new principal of Berkeley Elementary School in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
The decision was made at the board meeting on Sept. 13. Gabriel’s new position started Sept. 15.
Gabriel has 18 years of experience working in public education. She first started her teaching and education career in North Charleston, South Carolina, where she was a fourth grade teacher.
In 2000, Gabriel started to work in Berkeley County at Boulder Bluff Elementary School, where she was also a fourth grade teacher. In 2010, she was tapped as the Titled 1 Facilitator and Curriculum Coach for the H.E. Bonner Elementary School. For the last four years, Gabriel has been the assistant principal at the H.E. Bonner Elementary School.
She will use this previous work experience to continue making a difference in the lives of children at Berkeley.
“I feel truly blessed and honored to have this opportunity,” Gabriel said. “I am excited, and I look forward to working with the wonderful staff, students, parents, and community members at Berkeley Elementary School (BES). Together we will continue to make BES an amazing place to learn and grow.”
