Palmetto Health, the biggest integrated health care system in the region of the South Carolina Midlands, recently selected eGlycemic Management System (eGMS) from Glytec to support diabetes patients.
The new system of technology has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for real-time intravenous and subcutaneous insulin dosing. Now the integrated health care system can manage glycemic numbers throughout all of the clinical disciplines at Palmetto Health.
The system uses cloud-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) to make this possible.
“Palmetto Health selected the Glytec system because they feel it is well aligned with their patient care and quality initiatives,” Dr. Andrew S. Rhinehart, Glytec’s Chief Medical Officer, said. “The Glytec system has the potential to positively impact patient populations served under their ACO and value-based programs.”
People will be able to access the new system using the Cerner Millennium system from Palmetto Health. With the SmartClick system, they can experience smooth EMR integration with just one sign-on.
“Managing patients’ glucose levels can be challenging for clinical care teams, especially with limited endocrinology resources,” Melanie Mabrey, Glytec’s VP of Clinical Practice, said. “With the Glytec system, diabetes educators and nurses will have greater confidence in treating patients on insulin therapy, and will be more productive.”
