Leadership Charleston, part of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, hosts a prestigious professional development program and recently announced that it has welcomed the Class of 2017.
The program, first started in 1974, seeks to find and encourage emerging leaders in the Charleston area. The goal is to develop leadership potential by showing students the opportunities, realities, and challenges faced by U.S. business and communities. The program focuses on the challenges in the region, such as talent development, infrastructure, and business advocacy.
This is the 43rd class of Leadership Charleston. They will experience teamwork with community leaders and organizations, gaining positive growth and learning about advancement in the area.
After graduating in June 2017, class members are Leadership Charleston alumni, a distinguished group that includes elected officials, chamber board of directors, and prominent local leaders.
Participants in the program are chosen from their applications, which are submitted in May and June for the following class, which starts in September.
"I am very excited for the incoming Leadership Charleston class and the behind-the-scenes experiences, sit downs with local visionaries and professional connections they will gain over the next year," Meredith Siemens, Executive Director, Public Relations and Communications for South Carolina Federal Credit Union and Leadership Charleston Class of 2014 alum, said.
A list of the incoming class can be found the chamber's website.
