The YMCA of Columbia recently announced that it officially hired a new CEO, Kurt Stringfellow.
Previously, Stringfellow was the president/CEO of the Sarasota Family YMCA located in Florida. He began his work in that position in 2012. From 2001 through 2012, he was also the president/CEO of the Piedmont YMCA based in Georgia.
Stringfellow has worked with the YMCA for 29 years. He began as an instructor located in rural Moultrie, Georgia. He is moving to South Carolina because of his family roots; he has said that he is happy to return home.
“We are pleased to announce Kurt Stringfellow as our Y’s new leader,” Bill Price, YMCA of Columbia board president and chief volunteer officer, said. “Kurt embraces the same values that the Y stands for: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith. He comes to us after successful leadership of the Sarasota YMCA and his dedication to changing lives in spirit, mind and body certainly ensures a very bright future for our YMCA.”
The YMCA will host a Community Reception in Columbia, welcoming Stringfellow into his new position. The event will be held at the Columbia Marriott on Sept. 15 at 4:30 pm.
