Gray T. Culbreath and John T. Lay Jr. were tapped by the publication after it spent six months researching litigators and their clients.
Culbreath is ranked as one of South Carolina's top civil defense attorneys. His practice focuses on complex litigation, including product liabilities, professional negligence and class action lawsuits. His 25 years of experience is an asset when testifying as an expert witness in class action and legal malpractice cases. Culbreath also served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate Generals Corps between 1988 and 1992.
Lay's practice focuses on litigation that includes business, financial services, product liability and insurance bad faith and coverage. Among the more than 100 cases that he took to verdict were cases that went before the U.S. District Court of South Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is listed as one of South Carolina's Super Lawyers Top 25.
