The meeting, held in San Francisco, was attended by many leaders in the law industry.

The YLD earned its first place Awards of Achievement for its comprehensive programming as well as a newsletter titled SC Young Lawyer. Its second place award was in diversity for its lunch program titled “Diversity, Inclusion, and Leadership in the Law.”

In addition, Will Johnson from Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd PA, who is the past president of the South Carolina Bar YLD, was awarded an ABA YLD Star of the Year. Trey Ingram from Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP also earned the ABA YLD Child Advocacy Award.

“I am so proud of all the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division accomplished during this past year and that its successes led to the ABA recognizing it as the most outstanding YLD in the country,” Patrick Wooten, immediate past president of the South Carolina Bar YLD, said. “This is a tremendous honor for our state and is attributable to the excellent work of the many young lawyer leaders across South Carolina who selflessly give their time to serve the public and improve the legal profession.”
